John Milton Moore
Have you previously served on the NEXT High School Board (Planning Committee)?
Yes, I have been a member of the NEXT High School Planning Committee since its founding.
The state charter school law requires at least 50% of the elected board members have either K-12 experience or business experience. Do you meet this requirement?
Please give a brief biographical sketch. (Include connection to NEXT High School)
As the staff founder & CEO of NEXT, the economic development entity from which NEXT High School has formed, I have been heavily involved with the founding of NHS and currently serve on its Planning Board. I have over ten years corporate management experience with global banking, media and consumer products companies and have been part of several startup ventures as well. I received a BS in Accounting from Clemson University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. I am a Greenville native, married to an architect (Lucynda) and have two boys (Jackson & Henry) each of which have been part of new public school launches.
Please briefly state your qualifications and reasons for serving on the board at NEXT High School.
I believe my background and experience in business (as noted in my bio sketch above) as well as my role as a parent with children in the Greenville County public school system make me a good candidate for the board at NHS. I am the son of a public school teacher here and grew up around the education system in our area. I am passionate about educating our young people to compete in an ever-changing global economy and I believe strongly in bringing an entrepreneurial approach to education as NHS does.
