NEXT High School is governed by a 9 member board of directors. The school has been served to date by a 9 member "planning committee," which has functioned as the board of directors during the founding stage of the school. Now that the school is in operation it's time to transition to a board elected by the parents and faculty, as directed by state law.
Board position terms are staggered such that either 4 or 5 (of the 9) directors are elected each year. The first board will be divided into two groups with 4 members elected for a 1 year term and 5 members elected for a 2 year erm. After the first year all new members will serve a 2 year term.
November 9th, 2015 - Filing opens for nominations (see below)
December 9th, 2015 - Filing closes
December 11th, 2015 - Ballot published (Ballot)
January 11th, 2016 - Election Day
Prospective board members must nominate themselves by completing the form below. Nominations will be accepted from November 9th, 2015 until December 9th at 5pm.
- All information entered on this form (except as noted) will be posted as submitted on the NHS website for the duration of the election process.
- Nominees must complete an orientation/training session before Dec 9th in order to be placed on the ballot. The purpose of this meeting is to explain board duties, processes and time commitment.
- Nominees must complete a background check before being placed on the ballot.
The election will be held using an online ballot on January 11th, 2016. You will receive a voting link via email. A board meeting will be held on the evening of January 11th. At 4pm, the winners will be announced via email and later that evening the new board will be sworn in during our first annual meeting. At this meeting, the officers of the board (Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary & Treasurer) will be elected for a one year term, to be reelected at the next annual meeting.
